Hazel Bank Country House is a truly magnificent Victorian house situated in 4 acres of gardens overlooking the Borrowdale valley. The house has a relaxed and very comfortable ambiance with 8 luxury en suite bedrooms, a log fire in the lounge and many original features. Hazel bank has a AA Rosette restaurant and a bar and is fully licensed. From the bottom of the garden you can join several walks through the most beautiful parts of the Lake District. Ideal if you do not wish to use your car. The famous author Sir Hugh Walpole was a regular guest to the house and based his novel 'Rogue Herries' and the birthplace of Judith Paris on Hazel Bank. Hazel Bank has been awarded 5 Stars with a Gold Award by the AA and Visit Britain.

We are only five minutes walk to Windermere village, ten minutes walk to Bowness village and fifteen minutes to Lake Windermere. Windermere train station is a short taxi drive or fifteen minutes on foot. We have private parking for all our guests and a secluded garden. Located only 10 mins walk from Windermere and 15 mins from Bowness and Lake Windermere, Newstead is one of the few remaining grand Victorian Villas to be found in the area. Contemporary design has been avoided in the decoration of the house in favour of the uniquely, elegant, rich and interesting styles of the Arts and Crafts, Art Deco and Art Noveau movements creating true harmony between the house and the tradition of the area. Each of the 8 guest rooms is individually decorated to a high standard. There are 4 Double rooms with UK standard sized beds and 4 larger King Posters beds. Rooms are all ensuite showers. TV and tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Newstead is set in its own grounds with gardens to the front and generous off-street CCTV monitored parking to the rear. The Brookside a friendly and cosy pub is located some 3 mins walk away behind woods and a stream to the rear of the property. Shops, pubs, restaurants and other tourist amenities are within a short walking distance. Breakfast is between 8.30 - 9.15 at individual tables with a wide menu including a traditional cooked english breakfast and vegetarian and special dietary options. Newstead provides a lovely lounge for the comfort of its guests .
