Fairfield is one of Lakeland's original country houses built nearly 200 years ago and now provides a contemporary boutique B&B with a 'VisitBritain' 4 star Silver accolade, together with a 'AA Highly Commended with Good Breakfast' award. Guests are offered a high standard of personal service with genuine hospitality in a homely atmosphere. The half acre of secluded garden gives a perfect sense of peace and tranquillity and in the early summer boasts the beautiful scent and colour of camellia, azalea, rhododendron, and a magnificent wisteria. Situated just above Bowness village and Lake Windermere (2 minutes walk away), Fairfield is set in peaceful secluded surroundings that make it an ideal base from which to explore one of the loveliest areas in Britain - the English Lake District. The guest house lies within an easy 10-minute walk of the famous Lake Windermere in the village of Bowness and an 8-minute walk from Windermere village. There are several excellent viewpoints, the lakeshore and tumbling waterfalls within easy walking distance as well as numerous resturants, cafes, bars and public houses. Glencree makes the ideal base for enjoying the fabulous Lake District whether you want to just relax and take in the spectacle, explore the fells, take a boat ride, visit museums and country houses or enjoy a panoramic tour with someone else doing the driving. There is Windermere Golf course nearby, bicycle hire available, forest parks with nature trails and sculptures, horse riding, fishing and all the water sports Being a family-run concern, we are able to offer a personal service to make sure that your stay with us is comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The ground floor has a large guest lounge with colour flat screen TV, a newly-built, walk-through dining room and a ensuite double bedroom for guests who have difficulty with stairs. The delightful, individually designed bedrooms are all centrally heated, have en suite bath or shower rooms, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryers, toiletries and remote control flat screen TV. Free WiFi is available throughout the building. Delicious, traditional English breakfasts are freshly prepared to order from high quality local produce. Vegetarian meals can be arranged and any special dietary needs can be catered for. For those special occasions, champagne, chocolates and flowers can be arranged prior to your arrival. There are numerous things to do around Glencree and the resident proprietor will be happy to offer advice on the many attractions and walks on offer. Chestnut Villa was originally built in 1904, as a Coaching Inn and is situated on the edge of the picturesque 'honeypot' village of Grasmere. Under new management, the new owners are refurbishing bringing a fresh decor and relaxed, calm atmosphere. Guests are greeted with a warm welcome and are encouraged to come and go as they please with their own key. The B&B has a large and comfortable visitors lounge and a spacious dining room. With fruit, cereal, juice and a full English', we don't want you to leave hungry and strive for all our food to be tasty and healthy. All ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible - further details on dining can be seen on the website. If you have any special requests or requirements please let us know. Chestnut Villa has a total of seven shower en-suite rooms all containing tea/coffee facilities, colour TV and hair driers. Ground floor guest house, five minutes stroll out side village, close to shops and pubs.Amazing views over the surrounding hills and fells. Relax in front of the log burner with a glass of wine admiring the view after a hard days walking the lakeland fells or climbing Coniston Old Man. A short walk takes you to the Lake where Donald Cambell attempted to make his water speed record. We also have our new fully furnished 2 bedroom self catering apartment for weekly stays,or a short break..
